BarCamp: the rules

BarCamp is a friendly, relaxed event where people openly share information. To keep it a happy time, we have three housekeeping tips.

No solicitation

To maintain the spirit of BarCamp and respect fellow attendees, we ask that attendees maintain a "no solicitation rule" and do not use BarCamp as an opportunity for solicitation of any kind, including promoting their causes, services or organisations. It's great to swap business cards and talk later about business - just don't do it at BarCamp.

Chatham House Rule

The Chatham House Rule allows people to speak as individuals and to express views that may not be those of their organisations, and therefore, encourages free discussion. It also forbids reporting of people's opinions outside the meeting. For more information, see wikipedia.

Don't be shy

Many of the people coming to BarCamp are strangers so say hi to others. The sugar usually helps this, with the event getting more raucous as it goes along.
